Billy Macy, an independent Fae: Billy is a complex being and nearly 200,000 years of age. Idealistic, but jaded and bitter, he enters the story in the most humble of situations. Originally a Kobold (an ancient Fae clan located in present day Germany and Austria), Billy joined Ozara as a Seelie and fought bravely to protect humankind during the first and second Fae wars, distinguishing himself as a fierce and lethal warrior. He served as Treorai on the Weald during the early part of the 20th century, but a conflict with the Seelie elders led him to renounce his allegiance to them. Rather than return to the Kobold, he remained independent, existing on the periphery of both the Fae and Human worlds. Taking solace working with rescued big cats, and finding some comfort living among the people who care for them, Billy is tormented by his past decisions and many Fae believe he is searching for his place in existence. Friendly with only a few Fae, like Sara and Gavin, he is reluctant to be drawn back into the political world of the clans, but after meeting Maggie O’Shea he finds he has no choice. Billy is Fire aligned.
