AUNT MAY O'SHEA
Aunt May O'Shea:
May has spent her entire life on the Weald. All the locals know her, and everyone who
meets May O’Shea loves her. Enigmatic,
she is equal parts philosopher, storyteller, and Ozark hillbilly. May has served as Steward of the Weald for
nearly sixty years, working with the Fae and keeping humans off the 2,700 acre
property and out of harms way. With a
penchant for afternoon teas and gardening, May has been content
to spend her long life caring for the land her family entrusted to her, but age is
making that job more difficult. A woman of considerable wealth, May and her standard poodle, Justice, are fixtures in nearby Eureka Springs, where they are frequently seen riding around in her enormous antique Lincoln convertible. At first
blush, May strikes most people as half-mad and completely quirky, but there is
more to the O’Shea Matriarch than meets the eye. With a better understanding of the Fae than
any person alive, and an in depth knowledge of local history, the real history,
she plays a critical role in Maggie’s transition to life in the Ozarks.
