A Change of Heart!

"I really should dislike Christopher Shields. I never have enough time on my hands and diverting my attention to what I expect to be a YA book is not how I want to send my time these days. But I started it and therein lay my first mistake. The story grabbed me, the style of writing grabbed me and the characters grabbed me. I'm tempted to sue for assault."
Maggie is forced to move from her home in Florida to Arkansas where the family will live with a relative of her father's. The relative, (Aunt May) is the Steward of the Weald, the land she owns and on which her house is situated. Maggie is to be the next Steward but she has to pass certain tests first. Someone really doesn't want her to pass them and is prepared to go to any lengths to hurt her, her family and her friends to stop her. This someone is Unseelie Fae and though she has Seelie Fae friends, it's not clear they're all on her side either.
The books moves steadily from action to action with barely a break but you're never given time to become bored or confused by the story. It's perfectly crafted.
I thought to read a couple of chapters a night of this and give it no thought until I next opened up my Kindle for PC. Instead I've been stuck on this chair for hours unable to break away until I fall asleep over the keyboard. If this were a book in my hands it would be UNPUTDOWNABLE. Christopher Shields is a top Author with all the skills of a Tolkien. I have no choice now but to read the second book to carry on the story. I tell you, I hate the man.

"I absolutely loved this book! I was so engrossed in the story line from the very first page to the very last page. I hated for the story to end but knew that the second book, The Changeling, I would be reading as soon as I finished this one! It keeps your heart frantically beating and wondering what will happen next. It's a wonderful on the edge of your seat fantasy fiction book. The writing was fantastic and the author took me into the world of the Fae. It was like a movie, but playing only in my mind. Loved it and I hope there will be more books such as this one, by this author!"

"I have just finished [...] I was really hooked from the beginning to the end! Christopher has given a soul to all characters in this story. Even if it targets YA I personally think a lot of different people can read it with pleasure as I did it! The evolution of the main character is amazing! From a school-girl to an almost fae, a real Maebown! I am waiting for the follow-up, the Changeling!"

Fantastic Book!

"I have to admit that I usually don’t read Fairytales and if the first Book “The Steward” wouldn’t have been free, I never would have bought it and I would have missed out on one of the greatest Stories I have ever read. So great that as soon as I could I bought the second Part “The Changeling”. First time ever that I actually bought an EBook. The story is brilliant. It has everything, from suspense, drama, romance, action, humor and horror. It is easy to read without all the mistakes that a lot of the books have by unknown authors. I tried to make it last, forcing myself to put the book down so I won’t finish it so fast. It followed me into my dreams, it is absolutely stunningly written. The Author has an amazing fantasy. He has the talent to become really famous. It’s originality is what amazed me so much. A lot of it I didn’t see coming, it surprised me over and over again. Can’t wait to read the next one."

Gripping!

"As with the previous book, I found the plot to be meaty and fast, pulling me around hairpins and through mental brambles trying to figure out who the main enemy is. I did not expect Ozara’s actions. Well, not all of them at any rate. On further thought she is starting to remind me of the “Good Witch” in Wicked. Almost. The cast is wide. Fae of all areas are represented. I was also very excited about the inclusion of the Veil. It even has Bigfoot. Being from northern California and the Pacific Northwest, Bigfoot is a big thing with the family. I said it with the last book, but these characters are written deep. I also liked the level of description."

"Wow! I was hooked after book one, and when I picked this up, I just burned through it. The fae are powerful and challenging, very well depicted, and the plotting is significantly tighter and smoother. Everything has consequences, and watching the journey unfold is mesmerizing. I couldn’t put this down. Do yourself a favor and but this, and its predescessor, right now. Seriously"

"Author Christopher Shields has hit a home run with The Aetherfae, the third book in his Weald Fae Journals series. This book is even more fast paced than the previous books and will keep you turning the pages as you follow Maggie O’Shea’s perilous adventures around the world. Will she escape the evil clutches of the powerful Fae and develop the skills to save mankind? I highly recommend you find out by reading this fascinating and entertaining tale."

A Wonderful World!
5.0 out of 5 stars
“The Aetherfae (Weald Fae Journals, Book 3)” by Christopher Shields is a magical and epic fantasy story for young adults and young-at-hearts.
In Florida with her family young Maggie suffers an attack by a group of hostile Fae, led by her nemesis Ozara.
In this beautiful fantasy world that Shields has created are great and memorable characters, such as love interest Gavin and Maggie’s loveable father to name a few.
There is also a Seelie Council which acts to protect human kind from evil, but struggles with betrayal and the murder of some council members.
The book contains a variety of wonderful magic, such as astral travel and the rather clever use of the elements in fights between our heroes.
As a casual visitor to the genre I was in awe of the imagination and broad spectrum Shields covers in this book, a far cry from more repetitive and inept works in the genre.
On the run from her enemies Maggie travels to Europe but eventually has to stand up and fight in a great show down.
Although the book is the third in a series it works well as a stand alone creation. Highly recommended."

They Just Keep Getting Better!

"Book three of the Weald Fae Journals continues with the story of Maggie O’Shea. I just love these books. I just finished this one and felt like I just got off of the worlds longest roller coaster ride! The ups, downs, twists and turns keep you rooted in your seat. Christopher Shields understands teenagers and loyalty, a gripping storyline and fun characters. I will continue reading them as quick as he can pump them out. Each book maintains the drive and the plot without losing any of it’s momentum as so many series can do. I give this book a solid five stars. YA and older fantasy lovers will enjoy this one."

Wow, what a strong ending!

"What an amazing and heartfelt ending to a wonderful story. This last book of Maggie’s journey was bittersweet because I knew there will be no more and I wish there was.
Never have I felt as deeply about any characters as I have in these four books. It wasn’t just Maggie but Candace, Ronnie, Sara, Gavin, Billy, Tadewi, Mitch, Sherman, Victoria, Wakinya, Poseidon, Tse-xo-be, Ozara, Chalen and Drevek just to name a few. They all played such an important role, they brought this book to life.
While this last book was a lot more into battle strategy and fighting, it still had plenty of everything else. Like the previous books, the suspense and terror, the humor and the love and friendship is what had me captivated from the beginning. So many twists and so many turns I never expected or saw coming.
I often wondered if somebody would make a movie based on this series what the results would be like but I honestly don’t believe it could ever do these books justice. Thank you for allowing me to escape into the wonderful and dangerous world of the Fae."
